LOBA POETRY SERIES
Monthly Poet Features & Open Mic with Millicent Borges Accardi
Thursday, July 28th
7PM on Zoom
Join Ukiah Branch Library staff on the last Thursdays of the month at 7 pm for a live virtual poetry reading & open mic on Zoom. This free event is open to both teens & adults – all are invited to share poems in any form or style, or just listen to others.
On July 28th, we welcome Portuguese-American writer Millicent Borges Accardi, author of three poetry collections: Through a Grainy Landscape (New Meridian Arts, 2021), Only More So (Salmon Poetry, 2016), & Injuring Eternity (2010). Among her awards are fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, California Arts Council, CantoMundo, Fulbright, Foundation for Contemporary Arts NYC (Covid grant), Creative Capacity, Fundação Luso-Americana, and Barbara Deming Foundation, “Money for Women.” She lives in the hippie-arts community of Topanga, CA where she curates Kale Soup for the Soul and co-curates Loose Lips poetry readings.
Registration is required. Please contact Melissa at the Ukiah Library for the Zoom link: carrm@mendocinocounty.org.
