We've made it easier than ever for students to get a library card! With our new Student Success Cards, students can access library resources that support their education.

What is a Student Success Card?

  • A Student Success Card is a special library account available to all students in grades Pre-Kindergarten through High School through their participating School Districts located in Mendocino County
  • All students in participating School Districts in Mendocino County are automatically signed up for a Student Success Library Card, unless a parent/guardian chooses to opt out
  • There is no physical library card; instead, students will use a prefix assigned to their School District and will access materials using that prefix plus their student ID numbers
  • Students will have unlimited access to most electronic resources and services offered by the Library, including e-books, e-audio, online tutoring, and online test preparation

What can a child access with a Student Success Card?

Student Success Card access will depend on the School District. There are two options for School Districts to participate in the Student Success Card program:

  • Full Access Option: Student Success cards can be used for online electronic resources and services, as well as hard copy materials from any branch of the Library. For this option, the School District will provide the Library with the names, home addresses, and school ID numbers of enrolled students.
    • Students can borrow up to 5 items at a time; loan period for all types of items is 3 weeks
    • Student Success Cards may not be used to check out DVDs, games, streaming media (subject to change), interlibrary loans, or museum passes
    • Parents are responsible to pay replacement fees for lost items; the Library may forgive fees for up to 4 lost items per student per school year
  • Electronic-Only Access Option: Student Success cards can be used only for online electronic resources and services; access to physical hard copy materials will NOT be available with this option. For this option, the School District will provide the Library with the names and school ID numbers of enrolled students.
