What is the Palace Project reading app?
The Palace Project reading app is a digital reading platform that allows you to access your library’s ebooks and audiobooks from the CA State Library collection, Libby/Overdrive, and Enki Biblioboard all in one place. Enjoy thousands of free books from the Palace Bookshelf as well as exclusive titles only available to you in Palace. Browse the World Languages collection to see titles available in several languages, including Spanish. Getting Started with Palace
- Download the Palace Project app from your device's app store: Android or Apple iOS.
- Find your library: Open Palace and select your library's digital collection of eBooks and audiobooks from the library list by tapping "Find Your Library" or search using the search bar at the top. You can also borrow select titles with no library card by selecting the Palace Bookshelf collection.
- Borrow: Browse and borrow a title from your library's digital catalog. After you choose a title, tap "Get" to borrow the title. Type in your library card number and PIN to sign in and borrow. *Please note: You will need a general or limited use library card to borrow titles from the Mendocino County Library collection. Online cards will not work with Palace.
- Read: You can download many titles immediately from Palace. Borrowed titles appear in the "My Books" list at the bottom of the screen, and download to your device automatically.

From your library's Palace catalog you can:
- Browse the available materials by genre by swiping left on the main screen to see a carousel of titles in the genre, or clicking on the genre title to see all the titles in the category.
- Search for a specific title, author, or subject by tapping on the search icon in the top right of the screen.
From your "My Books" list you can:
- Tap "Read" to start reading or listening to a borrowed title or pick up where you last left off.
- See due dates for borrowed titles.
- Tap "Return" to return a borrowed title.
More:
- Please note: Overdrive items borrowed or placed on hold in the Palace app will count toward your Overdrive/Libby borrowing and hold limits, and will show in your Overdrive/Libby account as well. You will be able to read borrowed titles in both the Palace and Overdrive/Libby apps.
- Hoopla integration is not available at this time.
